Western Pacific 754

Western Pacific caboose 754 was one of 49 ordered by the WP in 1910 from Haskell and Barker, and is one of only three that have survived. 754 was retired in 1956 and donated to the Travel Town museum in Los Angeles, where it arrived in its orange and silver scheme. It reportedly appeared as such in the background of one episode of The Andy Griffith Show.

In the early 1980s, a well-meaning carpenter with the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department undertook a restoration of it, and completely re-sheathed the exterior and created the over-sized heralds. It was numbered "1910" due to its year of manufacture, and painted red. The structure, for the most part, is in good condition, although the interior is basically gutted, and there are no windows or doors. It is hoped that in the near future, an effort to repaint it in the orange and silver scheme and otherwise spruce it up can be undertaken...stay tuned for details.
